For the shell of the talmai, I layered crayon onto origami paper, then carved out the lines separating the scales. The talmai himself was done with graphite, and his eye was colored in with a red pen. I went with grey to help the shell and eye pop. The fins are made from a type of tissue paper to give it the translucent appearance of most fish fins. The coral is more origami paper I tore up and and crumpled, and the seaweed is just blades of grass from outside. For the bubbles, I took a piece of paper and did a blue watercolor wash, then cut the bubbles out from it when it dried.
